About Elrond Lawrence Biography & Services

Elrond Lawrence is a freelance photographer and writer specializing in transportation subjects, with a passion for railroads and roadside America. He grew up in Southern California's San Bernardino Valley and received a bachelor’s degree in Communication from California State University, San Bernardino. From 1990 to 2002 he worked primarily in public relations for Kaiser Permanente and the Ketchum agency, and he continues to do some PR consulting.

Elrond began photography as a teenager largely because of his love for railroads, but he quickly discovered a passion for photography in all its forms.  He has had over a thousand pictures appear in railroad-related magazines, books, calendars and advertising, and his general photography has appeared in various regional publications and advertising. A confessed Star Wars and Star Trek fan, and an avowed Route 66 roadie, Elrond lives in Salinas, CA with his wife Laura, daughter Kathryn and three cats.
